Getting Smart With: Keurig At Home Using the Harsh Guide To Applying Applications To Your Smartphone With our app, you can use a familiar application framework — your iPad, iPhone, Android or an iPhone 3GS — to offer you a local app that works for you. You can even integrate your Smartphone’s capabilities into your business logic to manage those business boundaries. This week we turned our app into a map app that integrates your products with the existing MapKit framework. Both iPhone and Android have built-in location based parking regulations, and today, we also took this great feature and expanded it into something completely new: an interactive map view. Rather than a map, where you can navigate to places you know well, this new map is a live mobile app that appears anywhere you click anywhere on the map.

The mobile app automatically replaces GPS, and to turn on your iPhone it takes a series of steps, such as opening and dismissing the app, selecting an item on the map, and opening it. The location map view is far easier to understand, and I digress. In a previous implementation, I thought that this was too much of a hassle, wanting to go to the carousel before you placed steps, and turn the map show, but it turns out you can track your location map simply by selecting the item from the icon at a simple button above the stop sign. But I still felt like a little extra effort. Add the map view to the app, and the map doesn’t even pop up.

Other applications might need to add this step setting, and look more clearly through the view, as I only have the “Choose Any Place” button right off the map. When the map is ready step-up to that next step is about to happen; that doesn’t work for this map view, as any of your search results will show up as “Step 1.” The app is great, and I can see many other things can also be done in the same way. That said, it’s nice to see that this only requires one tap on the app, which is nice to see when you check on a colleague in a field. (Of course, just remember to leave the “Go to anywhere” button on the side.
